Not forest closures, nor rain or high gas prices could keep us away from our beautiful White
Mountains. In all we had twelve riders turn out for our Fourth of July ride, four of them were Lone Ranger members.
We found an area open to ride in south of Big Lake. The camp site was beautiful with views of
Crescent Lake and Big Lake. It is an area I would like to see us revisit.
On one day we rode to the Black river for lunch and the next we went by Big Lake and took a beautiful trail that brought us down the Black River.
As is normal for the White Mountains this time of year we encountered the afternoon rains.
However we did not let this dampen our spirits, in a few hours it would stop.
On Saturday evening we had our All American potluck. And once again I was left to wonder are we a riding club or an eating club?!
We invited two other couples that were camped with their horses by us to join in the
festivities.
On our rides we encountered many Elk some with incredible racks. The widlife, the scenery, and the
companionship made this a ride to remember.
